A level conveyor, equipped with a six axis robot is placed to an existing linear handling system. The conveyor consists of two tracks: one for trays containing metal inserts, the other for empty carton boxes receiving the finished parts. |
After the linear system has extracted the parts from the machine and has placed them into the carton box, the robot loads the gripper of the linear system with new inserts. To guarantee the accurate grip of the inserts, the robot is equipped with a camera inside its gripper to localize the metal pieces in the tray. |
Wheels permit a flexible use of the conveyor also on other machines, depending on the production load. Further, the 4.5 m long level conveyor provides space for up to ten trays containing up to 400 inserts. This allows an autonomy up to one hour. However, a frequent refill of trays and boxes guarantee a smooth 24/7 production. |
